Biography
Eric is a shareholder in the Firm’s Government Relations and Compliance Practice Group, Clean Energy Practice Group, and Healthcare Practice Group. He represents clients in proceedings before a range of governmental agencies. He serves as prosecutor for the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board and frequently practices before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. Eric’s utility regulation experience includes representing public utilities and stakeholders in rate cases, merger/acquisition applications, demand response proceedings, applications for certificates of authority, and rulemakings. Industries represented include electric, telecommunications, gas, and water.
Eric has significant experience advising utility-scale renewable energy developers with wind, solar, battery storage, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, and transmission line projects, including in permitting, zoning, leasing, regulatory compliance, and litigation. He also negotiates power purchase agreements on behalf of large electric consumers, including hyperscale data centers.
Eric teaches Renewable Energy Law and Policy for the Executive MBA Program at the University of Oklahoma and was previously an adjunct professor at Oklahoma City University School of Law. He also chairs Phillips Murrah’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, which has implemented a fellowship program for area law students.
Prior to joining Phillips Murrah, Eric was an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Oklahoma Attorney General and was legal counsel at the Corporation Commission and the Tax Commission. Eric also served low-income Oklahomans at Legal Aid in Lawton, Oklahoma, and spent two years clerking for the state trial courts of Vermont.
Eric is an alum of Leadership Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Leadership Academy. He lives in Oklahoma City with his family and enjoys music, hiking, PBS NewsHour, and OSU football.
