Phillips Murrah Director and Dean of the Oklahoma City University School of Law, Jim Roth, was celebrated for his career-long dedication and leadership in legal education, sustainable energy, and organizational change.

On Nov. 7, friends, colleagues, admirers, and family gathered at the Oklahoma City Convention Center to help the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice recognize Jim for his humanitarian efforts and present him with the OKC Annual Award.

OCCJ: “Dean Roth’s commitment to inclusion and equality spans several decades – as an elected official, an attorney in private practice, and as Dean of OCU Law. He has been advocating for civil rights and equal justice, both publicly and privately, his entire career. And, he has done so with a strength and humility that inspired us all.”

OCCJ is dedicated to inspiring and equipping Oklahomans to overcome bias, bigotry, and oppression. OCCJ’s Oklahoma City Annual Awards honors individuals of outstanding dedication and community service in the region. Honorees exhibit an extensive record of involvement in civic, charitable, volunteer, and professional organizations, and have contributed to the improvement of human relations among diverse groups in Oklahoma. The Annual Awards is OCCJ’s major source of funding for free programming. Current events in our nation remind us of the critical need for OCCJ’s work. At the heart of their mission is creating spaces for dialogue and programs that serve to empower, educate, and inspire Oklahomans to create inclusive communities and ultimately overcome oppression.
