Phillips Murrah's Paying It Forward amplifies the message of one non-profit organization each month, all year long.
In Dec. 2020, Phillips Murrah partnered with Oklahoma NPR radio station KGOU to sponsor broadcast announcements each month that shine a light on a selected non-profit organization. Our aim is to amplify each beneficiary organizations’ needs and goals, and to help increase awareness, drive volunteer quality and quantity, assist in fundraising support, and improve capacity to deliver service to the community.
Our Paying it Forward beneficiary in April 2025 is AutismOklahoma. #PIFOKC
AutismOklahoma
April is Autism Awareness Month, and we’re excited to highlight AutismOklahoma as our Paying it Forward beneficiary. AutismOklahoma focuses on creating meaningful connections and opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum to build community and live joyful, purpose-driven lives.
At the heart of their efforts is the AutismOklahoma Walk: A Fundraiser to Connect the Spectrum, an event held in Oklahoma City and Tulsa that brings people together to connect with services, meet other families, and celebrate the autism journey in all its forms. Every dollar raised stays right here in Oklahoma and directly supports the programs that help families thrive.
Their mission is simple but powerful: to invest together to grow, learn, and support families across Oklahoma affected by autism.
They support children, teens, adults, and families through:
- Safe and supportive connection opportunities
- Unique, interest-based experiences
- Community partnerships that celebrate differences
- Raising funds to keep programs free—or nearly free—for everyone involved
With 1 in 36 children now diagnosed with autism, the demand for these types of resources continues to grow. That’s why the work AutismOklahoma is doing is so important—and why events like the Walk have such a significant impact.
Founded by local parents who aimed to improve the quality of life for their loved ones with autism, AutismOklahoma is not part of a national organization. It’s a grassroots, community-rooted effort that relies heavily on private donations to sustain its initiatives. Today, their programs reach over 4,500 participants and families each year, with nearly all services being free or low-cost.
Whether you participate in the Walk in person or support it from wherever you are, you’re helping Oklahomans with autism explore their interests, build friendships, and lead more connected, fulfilling lives.
