Blocks for Bucks

What is Blocks for Bucks?

Blocks for Bucks began in November of 2017, when Phillips Murrah initiated our corporate partnership. Helping to improve the community is at the heart of our Firm’s mission, and attorneys and staff at Phillips Murrah are huge fans. So, the prospect of benefiting the work of the Thunder Community Foundation while recognizing our home team’s accomplishments in blocking shots with this exciting and entertaining campaign was irresistible.

The premise of Blocks for Bucks is simple: For each blocked shot that the Thunder forces at home games during the regular season, Phillips Murrah donates $100 to the Thunder Community Foundation. As the team racks up blocks throughout the season, video highlights are posted onthe Blocks for Bucks page on the Thunder’s website, along with a blocks counter and a running donation tally. After eight seasons of our Blocks for Bucks campaign, Phillips Murrah has donated more than $170,000 to benefit the Thunder Community Foundation.

“Our partnership with the Oklahoma City Thunder accomplishes two goals,” explained Dave Rhea, Marketing Director at Phillips Murrah. “One, we love supporting the team, and it’s a delight to have our brand associated with such a celebrated organization. Two, through this partnership, we’re able to help fund the incredible philanthropic work that Thunder Cares does in and around Oklahoma City, which fits perfectly with our commitment to the community.”
