Phillips Murrah's Paying It Forward amplifies the message of one non-profit organization each month, all year long.
Since December of 2020, Phillips Murrah has partnered with National Public Radio (NPR) to sponsor broadcast announcements each month that shine a light on a selected non-profit organization. Our aim is to amplify each beneficiary organizations’ needs and goals. Paying it Forward seeks to enhance each beneficiary’s capacity to deliver service to the community by helping increase awareness, assist in fundraising support, and drive volunteer/membership quality and quantity. The reach of Phillips Murrah’s Paying It Forward program is market-wide in Oklahoma City through partnering with our two major NPR stations, KGOU and KOSU.
Our Paying it Forward beneficiary in October 2023 is YWCA Oklahoma City. #PIFOKC
YWCA Oklahoma
The YWCA Oklahoma City is an emergency crisis-intervention service for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. They are the triage unit for survivors. YWCA OKC works to lay the foundation for survivors to rebuild lives free from shame, blame, and future violence.
The YWCA OKC offers victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking immediate crisis response services through our C.A.R.E. program. The C.A.R.E. program includes crisis hotlines, advocacy, emergency residential shelter, and forensic nurse exams. C.A.R.E program services, provided at no cost to YWCA OKC clients, are critical in breaking the cycle of violence and transitioning victims to safe and violence-free futures.
As clients work to disengage from a violent home, they often encounter social and societal barriers that keep them from successfully rebuilding their lives. The YWCA Oklahoma City addresses these needs through their H.O.P.E. program. The H.O.P.E. program includes Healing, Opportunities, Prevention, and Education. This includes financial literacy, job readiness training; and prevention education to better understand healthy relationships.
