Phillips Murrah is pleased to announce that Genni D. Ellis has joined the Firm as Of Counsel in our Oklahoma City office, bringing nearly a decade of experience in intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, intellectual property litigation, internet law, and cybersecurity.
As a registered U.S. Patent Attorney, Genni advises clients on the patentability of inventions, prepares and prosecutes domestic and international patent applications, drafts infringement and validity opinions, negotiates and drafts licensing agreements, and represents clients in patent infringement litigation. Her technical focus spans life sciences, chemistry, computer software, and computer-implemented technologies, drawing on her background in public health and the life sciences. Her trademark practice covers the full lifecycle of a trademark, from clearance and prosecution to enforcement, licensing, and opposition and cancellation proceedings.

Genni earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma, a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a Master of Public Health from Walden University, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2017. She has been recognized as a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America honoree in intellectual property law, intellectual property litigation, patent law, and patent litigation since 2024, named to Oklahoma Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars list since 2024, and honored with The Journal Record’s Leadership in Law Award in 2024.
Active in the legal community, Genni serves on the Board of Directors of both the Oklahoma County Bar Association and the Oklahoma City Youth Hockey Association, and is a Barrister in the Luther Bohanon American Inn of Court.
Originally from Oklahoma and Alaska, Genni enjoys traveling, hiking, and fishing. She and her husband are raising two sons and share their home with two dogs and a kitten.
