Biography

Genni Ellis focuses her practice on intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, IP litigation, internet law, and cybersecurity, as well as general business matters. As a registered U.S. Patent Attorney, she works with clients on related matters spanning from prior art searches and patent applications to infringement opinions, licensing agreements, and patent litigation. Her public health background shapes her technical focus spanning the life sciences, chemistry, software, and computer-implemented technologies. Her trademark work covers the full lifecycle of a mark, from clearance and prosecution to enforcement and licensing.

Genni earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma, a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a Master of Public Health from Walden University, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2017. During law school, she competed on the National Trial Competition Team, received the McAfee & Taft Outstanding Trial Advocate Award, and earned Dean’s Honor Roll recognition.

She has been recognized as a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America honoree in intellectual property law, IP litigation, patent law, and patent litigation since 2024 and has been named to Oklahoma Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars list since 2024. She also received The Journal Record’s Leadership in Law Award in 2024 and the United Methodist Men’s National Good Samaritan of the Year Award.

Genni serves on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, where she previously chaired the Young Lawyers Division, and is a Barrister in the Luther Bohanon American Inn of Court.

Originally from Oklahoma and Alaska, Genni enjoys traveling, hiking, and fishing. She and her husband are raising two sons and share their home with two dogs and a kitten.
