On Tuesday, Phillips Murrah attorneys attended Positive Tomorrows’ 2024 Gold Star Luncheon, an annual fundraiser held on Giving Tuesday. This year’s event had a pre-event match amount of $270,000, which would provide critical operating funds for Positive Tomorrows. These funds enable the school to offer children a quality education and meet their basic needs while their parents work toward building brighter futures for their families.

“As many years as I have attended this event, I am always in awe of the staff’s commitment, the board’s governance, and the mission’s impact on children and families in Oklahoma City,” said Phillips Murrah Director Nikki Edwards. “The parents’ powerful stories of overcoming homelessness and how Positive Tomorrows has transformed their children’s lives leave few dry eyes in the room.”

Nikki Edwards, who serves on the Board of Directors, has avidly supported Positive Tomorrows for over 25 years. Since 1997, she has dedicated her time and resources to helping the school become a vital community resource. Her contributions include fundraising and serving as Chairman of the Board in 2019—the same year Positive Tomorrows opened its state-of-the-art, 30,000+ sq. ft. facility.

With help from Camille Burge and Lauren Barghols Hanna, Nikki Edwards was able to fill seven tables at the event. Nikki Edwards, Marc EdwardsCamille Burge, and Lauren Barghols Hanna served as Table Captains, contributing to the event’s success. Over 20 Phillips Murrah lawyers attended the event to show their commitment to this organization. Additionally, Lauren Barghols Hanna, Kathy Terry, and Daisy Borders proudly represent Positive Tomorrows as the organization’s legal counsel, further strengthening the Firm’s commitment to this important client.

Positive Tomorrows is Oklahoma’s only elementary school specifically serving children experiencing homelessness. The school provides a unique blend of educational and social services to children and families in need, ensuring students thrive despite unstable circumstances.
