Congratulations to Phillips Murrah Director Nikki Edwards, who was recognized with the Don Deason Community Service Award by the Ruth Bader Ginsburg American Inn of Court.
The Don Deason Award is a prestigious recognition, with recipients chosen for their ability to consistently demonstrate civility, professionalism, friendliness, and unwavering participation in the Ruth Bader Ginsburg American Inn of Court.
The Don Deason Award is named after the late Donald Deason, who served as an Oklahoma County District Judge. Deason was known for his exemplary leadership and actions and his reputation for integrity, compassion, fairness, and intellect. He was a passionate advocate for victims’ rights and was highly respected by both the prosecution and the defense for his unwavering commitment to justice. Deason was also a loyal friend and supporter of law enforcement and his fellow jurists.
Nikki is active in community service and has served as the Past President, volunteer, and four-term board member of Positive Tomorrows, a school for homeless and at-risk children in the Oklahoma City area, for more than 25 years. She also is a member of Westminster School Board of Trustees. She previously served on the Advisory Board of the University of Oklahoma Women & Gender Studies, serving as founding member from 2011 through 2016. She is also a board member and past President of Oklahoma Single Parent Scholarship Program.
The Ginsburg American Inn of Court, named in honor of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is a reputable legal organization divided into six pupillage teams. Each team comprises judges, seasoned lawyers, young attorneys, law professors, and third-year law students. These teams work together to create and deliver programs that tackle significant matters in the legal field. Their efforts enhance professionalism, civility, and ethics within the legal community.
