Phillips Murrah proudly sponsored the Raise Your Racquet event on Friday, Sept.25, hosted by First Serve OKC.
Raise Your Racquet is First Serve OKC’s annual fundraiser, where the tennis community comes together to celebrate and raise funds in support of programming for underserved youth in Oklahoma City. First Serve OKC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the lives and enhancing the character of Oklahoma City youth through tennis and education. In 2025, the organization served 1,919 kids and continues to grow its reach in 2026.
This year’s featured guest was tennis legend Brad Gilbert, one of the sport’s most accomplished figures as a player, coach, author, and analyst. Ranked as high as fourth in the world during his playing career, Gilbert reached the quarterfinals at both the US Open and Wimbledon and earned a Bronze Medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. Following his playing career, he became one of the sport’s most sought-after coaches, guiding Andre Agassi to six Grand Slam titles and a world number one ranking, Andy Roddick to a US Open title and number one ranking, and most recently Coco Gauff to her first Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open. Gilbert is also a longtime ESPN analyst and bestselling author of Winning Ugly.
“This was a great event put on by First Serve OKC Foundation to promote its youth tennis programs serving close to 2000 students of all types and backgrounds in our area,” said Director Mark Lovelace. “The folks in the organization are working not only to nurture the kids’ tennis abilities, but also to improve their academic, nutrition, and life skills at the same time.”
