As Phillips Murrah celebrates 40 years of service, we’re highlighting the people whose work has helped shape the firm along the way. In this 40 for 40 profile, we spotlight Jennifer Miller and the perspective she brings to her role and to the firm’s culture.
Jennifer has wanted to be a lawyer since she was 13 years old, a childhood conviction that never wavered and eventually became a career spent entirely at Phillips Murrah. In the years since, she has watched the firm move through periods of tremendous and exciting growth, expanding its reach while taking on new practice areas and new faces along the way. Yet in her view, the firm’s greatest achievement is not found in any of that expansion. It is what has remained constant through it all – the incredible character of its people and leadership. Every person at Phillips Murrah is consistently there for one another through the many seasons of the practice of law and of life, never hesitating to offer help when needed, whether the moment calls for something professional or something deeply personal. She considers it a genuine privilege to spend her days working alongside people who are every bit as smart and talented as they are kind.
Outside of work, family, travel, and running add color to Jennifer’s life beyond the practice of law. She and her daughter make a habit of getting away together, sometimes with careful planning and sometimes on pure spontaneity, whenever school and work schedules line up just right. And of course, there is always an extra spring in their step in the days following a win by their much-loved Oklahoma City Thunder. Running also has its own quiet place in her routine. Daily morning runs give Jennifer a chance to start each day by taking in the stillness and beauty of the ever-changing Oklahoma sunrise, a small ritual that sets the tone before the day’s demands take over.
