As Phillips Murrah celebrates 40 years of service, we’re highlighting the people whose work has helped shape the firm along the way. In this 40 for 40 profile, we spotlight Sally A. Hasenfratz and the perspective she brings to her role and to the firm’s culture.
Sally’s path to the law started with a practical calculation: she figured a law degree would serve her better than an MBA. That instinct eventually led her to Phillips Murrah, where she arrived as part of a lateral group alongside Lloyd Hardin and the Hastie Group. The draw was the firm’s business practice, and she wanted to be part of what it was building.
Over the years, the most rewarding part of her work has been handling real estate and business transactions and watching the tremendous growth Oklahoma City has experienced along the way.
Two moments stand out as the defining challenges in Sally’s career. The first challenge occurred after the Oklahoma City bombing. Sally was part of the Young Lawyers Division of the OBA that organized the legal community’s response to the various legal needs that followed that tragedy. The second challenge came years later on September 11th. At that time, she was working alongside counterparts in New York City on a business transaction that was supposed to close that day. Both moments left their mark on her personally and professionally, bringing a lasting sense of perspective to her work.
Having watched the firm evolve, Sally sees the same thread running through it all: a consistent desire to provide quality legal services and put clients first.
Outside of work, golf, cooking, and travel help take her mind off legal matters, offering a relaxing and fun counterbalance to the demands of her legal practice.
As someone who has been part of the firm’s history, Sally brings a perspective of appreciation to this 40-year milestone. Phillips Murrah has been a great place to work, filled with incredible talent and driven by a commitment to being a good corporate citizen while providing quality legal services to its clients.
