Phillips Murrah was honored to sponsor and attend the Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Chapter of the National Black Law Students Association’s 75th Anniversary Celebration, held on May 8 at the Oklahoma Historical Center.
The formal evening reflected on the chapter’s growth, recognized its outstanding students and alumni community, and honored the trailblazing legacy of Dr. Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher. Guest Speaker Melvin Hall, OU Law Class of 1981, offered remarks befitting the occasion.
Phillips Murrah attorneys Lauren Voth, Mark Lovelace, and Hilda Loury were proud to attend in support of this milestone celebration.
“The evening was a truly special occasion celebrating 75 years of an incredibly important legacy,” said Lauren. “It was especially meaningful to see our most recent OU fellows, Fatima Jaime, Quintesa Jeremias, and Gracyn Ross, in attendance, and I look forward to the contributions they will bring to the legal community.”
The University of Oklahoma, College of Law Black Law Students Association chapter is named after Dr. Fisher in recognition of her historic and courageous legacy. Dr. Fisher was the first African American student admitted to the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Her landmark Supreme Court case, litigated by Thurgood Marshall, desegregated OU Law and helped establish the foundational civil rights precedent in Brown v. Board of Education.
