Altus Equity Group Inc., a privately held real estate investment firm, in partnership with real estate private equity firm Wellings Capital, recently acquired a portfolio of six garden-style apartment communities, totaling 1,225 units, in the high-growth Midland-Odessa region of West Texas.

Phillips Murrah Director Mark Lovelace, a veteran commercial law and real estate attorney and one of the Firm’s founding Directors, worked with Thomas Davenport from Beyers Costin Simon, Santa Rosa, California, as legal counsel to Altus Equity for the transaction.

“This was not only a large transaction, but also an extremely complicated one involving many attorneys across the country and very sophisticated parties,” Lovelace said.  “We were asked to collaborate with Tom Davenport to help Altus Equity get to closing and were able to work together through numerous deal issues and legal obstacles to reach our client’s goals in the end.  It was a great example of our approach to partnering with clients to share our local knowledge, legal experience, and understanding of their businesses to provide the greatest value.”
