Phillips Murrah Director Byrona J. Maule Elected to ALFA International Board of Directors

Maule has been elected to serve on the ALFA International Board of Directors. Founded in 1980, ALFA International is the premier network of independent law firms with over 140 member firms worldwide.

“I am thrilled to be elected to the ALFA International Board of Directors,” Byrona said. “I have been honored to participate in ALFA International’s many client seminars, and I look forward to serving ALFA International in this new capacity and continuing the strong ALFA International tradition of providing high-quality, cost-effective legal service wherever our clients need them.”

ALFA International firms represent partnerships between trusted friends and colleagues who work together to provide world-class CLE seminars, draft comprehensive compendia for participating jurisdictions, and collaborate on client matters, all while providing corporate counsel with the opportunity to network with ALFA International attorneys and their in-house peers.

Byrona has been an active participant in ALFA International for over a decade and a half. During this time, she has participated in the Labor and Employment Law steering committee by planning seminars on matters of interest in the area of labor and employment. She is currently serving on the International Client Seminar (“ICS”) planning committee and is serving as the course book editor of the 2024 ICS, to be held in Puerto Rico. Byrona has regularly attended the annual ICS conference, the bi-annual Labor and Employment Conference, and the ALFA Annual Business Meeting. She has also presented numerous times at the ICS, the Labor and Employment Seminar, and the Women’s Initiative Practice Group Seminar. Her presentations include a wide range of topics, such as “Privacy in the Electronic Age,” Fair Labor Standards Act-themed “Exempt Today – Gone Tomorrow,” and “Overtime – What’s in, What’s Out, What’s Still up in the Air,” as well as topics covering investigations, numerous diversity topics, and wellness in the practice of law.

Byrona is a member of Phillips Murrah’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, representing business clients in the full scope of labor and employment matters – from providing advice and guidance to her clients on daily issues to representing her clients in state and federal court. Byrona also assists clients in their compliance before various state and federal regulatory boards. She provides her clients with practical, relevant legal advice that recognizes and protects her clients’ legitimate business interests, while assisting them in developing and maintaining compliance with the many statutory and regulatory employment laws.

Byrona is active in the legal community and frequently provides training on labor and employment issues for numerous private businesses, professional organizations, and public institutions. She has been recognized for her outstanding legal career by The Journal Record’s Leadership in Law Award and was also appointed to the Oklahoma Merit Protection Commission, where she served for 6 years.

She is also a passionate community advocate who has devoted much of her life to volunteerism and philanthropy. Of note, Byrona’s distinguished service to Big Brothers Big Sisters began in 1990, and she is currently serving on the Governing Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters for a second time, having previously served from 2012–2015, including as Chair from 2013–2015. Byrona is also an active member and supporter of Resurrection Lutheran Church.
