Phillips Murrah attorneys and staff recognized and celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month by funding a Latino Community Development Agency college scholarship for the third year in memory of late Phillips Murrah Director, Shannon K. Emmons, who was passionate about community service and especially proud of her service on behalf of the LCDA. Shannon dedicated years of service to the LCDA as a board member and volunteer. When Shannon passed away in 2018, she was serving as LCDA Vice Chairman and on their Governance Committee.

Each year since 2021, our Firm has donated to the LCDA in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Last year, Phillips Murrah attorney Kayla M. Kuri presented a check for $1000 to graduating Santa Fe South student, Adrian Ibarra Alonso, as a part of the scholarship program.

Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Phillips Murrah celebrates the heritages rooted in all Latin American countries.

LCDA’s holistic approach to client services addresses infants, children, and teens, and includes programs that address physical, mental, and behavioral health. An important part of this approach includes providing college scholarships. In 2022, LCDA awarded $43,000 in scholarships to 35 students, including 24 high school seniors and 11 college-level students.
