Byrona chose Regional Food Bank, Oklahoma’s largest domestic hunger-relief 501(c)(3) nonprofit, as the beneficiary to help fund their important and effective work in the fight against hunger, especially as related to their Food for Kids program. Food for Kids serves children directly through four programs: Backpack Program, Kids Café, Summer Feeding and School Pantries.

“There is a critical connection between childhood nutrition and cognitive and physical development,” Byrona explained. “Nutritional deficiencies, of even a relatively short-term nature, can negatively impact a child’s health, behavior, and the ability to concentrate and perform complex tasks.”

Byrona presented our social distancing-friendly, six-foot presentation check to Jennifer to mark the occasion. Through this donation, Phillips Murrah’s ALFA #40DaysofGiving donation will be included in RFB’s Holiday Match program, which will double its impact in the community.

“The donation comes at a crucial time, as our neighbors across the state are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic downturn and a devastating ice storm,” said Stacy Dykstra, Chief Executive Officer of Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “Thanks to the generosity of Phillips Murrah, we will be able to provide 20,000 meals to Oklahomans living with food insecurity.”
