The mention was regarding Janet’s move to Phillips Murrah’s Dallas office.

Janet is deeply committed to the advancement of women in the legal profession. She has been an active member of the National Association of Women Lawyers and the Dallas Women Lawyers Association, and is a thought leader and sought-after speaker on gender diversity in the legal profession.

With the addition of Janet, over 40 percent of Phillips Murrah’s Directors are women, more than twice the national average for large law firms. A significant number of women fill leadership roles at the Firm, including three of the four positions on the Executive Committee.

“I am impressed with the dynamic people at the Firm, especially the leadership,” Janet said of her motivation to join Phillips Murrah. “I’m also excited about the plans for the Dallas office and thrilled to be a part of building the future of the Firm.”

Phillips Murrah expands into Dallas

Phillips Murrah opens Dallas officeOklahoma City-based law firm Phillips Murrah announces it has opened an office in Dallas with the addition of new Director Mark Golman to the Firm. Golman, who is leading the expansion efforts south of the Red River, focuses his practice on the purchase and sale of businesses and assets, the negotiation of long-term supply agreements and financing arrangements, corporate counseling, and bankruptcy and insolvency-related matters.

“The opportunity to practice with an entrepreneurial firm in a structure that allows me to provide clients with top-notch services at lower rates was very attractive,” he said. “The fact that I have long-term relationships with many of my new colleagues only added to my interest in opening a Dallas office for Phillips Murrah.”

Golman, a partner at Strasburger & Price for the prior 20 years, joined Phillips Murrah at the time of his prior firm’s recent merger with a national firm. His background includes serving as lateral hiring partner for 18 years and intermittently as CMO at his previous firm, skills that he brings to the new Dallas office as Phillips Murrah seeks to grow through lateral additions in litigation, employment and real estate. His joining Phillips Murrah was preceded by a decade-long working relationship through a common membership in ALFA International.

“Expanding into Dallas fits perfectly with our overall growth strategy,” said Thomas G. Wolfe, Phillips Murrah’s President and Managing Partner.  “Dallas is a true growth market whose economic base is large and diversified.  The opportunities in Dallas have been recognized across the nation.”

Determining factors in Phillips Murrah’s decision to enter the Dallas legal market include Golman’s joining the firm as well as proximity of the two markets and existing client relationships.

Dawn M. Rahme, a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee, said, “We have significant clients in the Dallas area, including some that overlap with those Mark brings to the firm.  Additionally, a number of our Oklahoma City-based lawyers are licensed to practice in Texas and maintain strong relationships there.”

Shannon K. Emmons, also a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and Co-Chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice, added “With an office in Dallas, we will be able to enhance relationships with existing clients while also growing our footprint and client base in Texas.”
