Our aim is to amplify each beneficiary organizations’ needs and goals, and to help increase awareness, drive volunteer quality and quantity, assist in fundraising support, and improve capacity to deliver service to the community.

Our Paying it Forward beneficiary in April 2024 is CASA of Oklahoma County, Inc. #PIFOKC[divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default” animate=”yes” custom_height=”50″][image_with_animation image_url=”26889″ animation=”Fade In” hover_animation=”zoom” alignment=”” img_link_target=”_blank” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”small_depth” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default” img_link=”https://okcountycasa.org/”]This month’s Pay it Forward beneficiary is Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Oklahoma County, Inc., whose mission is to provide trained volunteers to champion the best interests of children in foster care.

CASA of Oklahoma County, Inc. was established in 1987, and in 1988, its first Volunteer Advocates were inducted. The program was established under §10A-1-1-105 of the Oklahoma State Statute. Since then, CASA of Oklahoma County has become an essential part of the Child Welfare System in Oklahoma County, serving 653 foster youth with 287 volunteer advocates in 2022.

In Oklahoma, there are over 4,700 children in foster care every year. CASA provides a trained, compassionate adult who can advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. The CASA volunteers get to know the children and communicate with all parties involved in the case, including people in the child’s life, to provide complete information and sound recommendations to the court. As a neutral third party, the CASA volunteer offers the court an unbiased and child-focused opinion. According to research by the National CASA Association, children who have a CASA volunteer are more likely to find a safe and permanent home, receive education and support services while in foster care, and are less than half as likely to re-enter the foster care system.
