DECEMBER 5, 2008 – The Oklahoma County Bar Association’s Briefcase announces that for the second year in a row, the Phillips Murrah team – attorneys Jennifer Miller, Juston Givens and Dawn Rahme – won the best overall chili at the annual OCBA Chili Cook Off. The contest is held every year in conjunction with the OCBA’s Swinging in the Dark Golf Social. Both events benefit the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank.
YLD Golf Social, Chili Cook-Off Gives Boost to Harvest – Food Drive
Each year the OCBA Young Lawyers Division makes a pledge of $20,000 to aid the Regional Food Bank. This year’s Harvest Food Drive was given a kick-off at the Young Lawyers Division Swingin’ in the Dark Golf Social on September 19 at the Silverhorn Golf Club which consisted of golfing, socializing and all around fun.
The Young Lawyers also held a chili cook-off on October 17, along with a silent auction as a fundraiser for this year’s drive. Eleven chili-making teams competed and provided chili for over 50 tasters at Rocky’s in Bricktown. Judges for this event were Judges Ken Buettner, Bryan Dixon, Jerry Bass and Chuck Black. Over $2,800 was raised between the two events with the help of our sponsors:
