The Oklahoma Academy recently honored three key contributors at its 15th annual Academy Salute in Tulsa.

The awards were presented to former Tulsa Technology Center superintendent Gene Callahan, Oklahoma City attorney Marc Edwards and Oklahoma City businessman Greg Main.

“These gentlemen represent the best of the best when it comes to involved board members,” Academy Chairman Steve Turnbo said. “They go above and beyond a volunteer mindset, and strive to improve the quality of life in Oklahoma by diligently communicating and promoting the Academy’s public policy work.”

Callahan retired in July as Tulsa Tech’s superintendent, a position he held for 20 years.

He also served more than 40 years as a teacher and supervisor in public schools.

Edwards, who works at Phillips McFall, received his law degree from the University of Tulsa and has practiced law for more than 20 years. He also was an assistant attorney general for five years.

Main recently retired after six years as CEO and president of i2E, a private nonprofit corporation focused on wealth creation. He previously served as Oklahoma’s secretary of commerce and spent a decade in the venture capital business.

The organization’s annual fundraiser also featured former Gov. Frank Keating, political analyst Mike Turpen and comedy group Capitol Steps.

The Oklahoma Academy is a private, nonpartisan statewide organization whose vision is to empower Oklahomans to improve their quality of life through effective public policy development and implementation.
