Shannon Emmons is a shareholder, Co-Chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group and Chair of the Diversity Committee. She has more than 20 years of experience representing both public and privately-held companies in a broad range of litigation and business matters.
Having received her Martindale-Hubbell “AV” rating in 1997, Shannon has tried cases to verdict in both state and federal courts and has represented clients in arbitration. She has appeared before the Oklahoma Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and is admitted to practice before the United State Supreme Court.
As part of her labor and employment law practice, Shannon advises clients regarding employee benefits, contractual matters, discipline and termination of employees, and reduction-in-force plans. Additionally, she assists clients in the preparation of workplace policies and employee handbooks, and provides training for management and non-management employees on anti-discrimination practices and compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations. Her commercial litigation practice includes contractual disputes, insurance coverage, banking, and other business-related issues. Shannon is also experienced in advising health care providers concerning contractual obligations within that highly regulated industry.
Shannon attended the University of Oklahoma, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Letters in 1987. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1990 and was a member of the Oklahoma Law Review and Phi Delta Phi. Shannon was a lawyer pupil in the William J. Holloway, Jr., American Inn of Courts from 1994 to 1995. For her accomplishments in the practice of law, she is named to Oklahoma Super Lawyers in the area of Civil Litigation Defense and to Best Lawyers in America in Commercial Litigation.
A native Oklahoman, Shannon was born and raised in Blackwell and lives in Norman with her husband, Stuart, and the youngest of their three sons. She is active in the community, including serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Latino Community Development Agency where she serves as Vice Chairman of the Board and is an active member of the Governance Committee.
