Phillips Murrah rowing medalPhillips Murrah’s rowing team Law & Oarder completed the 2016 rowing season with a win.

The team competed on September 30 at the Oklahoma Regatta Festival held at the OKC Boathouse District and achieved a personal best 500-meter run of 1:52.

“The Phillips Murrah team greatly improved for this Regatta,” said G. Calvin Sharpe, Director and Law & Oarder team leader. “We rowed our personal best time and placed in the Experienced Class Division.

“It goes to show, hard work and teamwork takes the commitment to a group effort—that is what makes a team work and Phillips Murrah work.”

In all six seasons the Firm’s rowing team has competed, team members consisted of both attorneys and staff members.

“Rowing for Phillips Murrah is one of my favorite things to do, and I’m grateful to our Shareholders for providing this opportunity,” Marketing Director Dave Rhea said. “It’s a challenging sport, and it is a great mix of people from multiple departments who work at the Firm.

“But most of all, it’s fun – and winning a medal is a great reward for the months of practice we put in out at the Boathouse.”

This was the last race for the year for the team, but they will begin practicing again in the Spring for the Summer rowing season.

“It’s so great to work at a place where the leadership cares about developing the person outside of just the office,” said Melissa R. Gardner, Director and Law & Oarder team leader. “And, the support that was shown by our co-workers was quite touching.”
