Phillips Murrah’s rowing team Law & Oarder completed the Summer 2016 season on a high note.
The team competed on June 25 at the Stars and Stripes River Festival held at the OKC Boathouse District in the advanced league and achieved a 500-meter run of 2:00.35.
“This is the team’s fourth season, and we have great support from the Firm,” said G. Calvin Sharpe, Director and Law & Oarder team leader. “This is one of the best experiences a group can go through.”
In all four seasons the Firm’s rowing team has competed, team members consisted of both attorneys and staff members.
“Rowing together as a team provides an important team-building opportunity for Phillips Murrah,” Marketing Director Dave Rhea said. “In our boat, attorneys, non-attorney directors and staff all pull together to achieve our personal best.”
“It’s worth the effort, valuable to the company, and best of all, it’s a heck of a lot of fun.”
The team will continue their practices through the summer and into the fall, leading into the final regatta, which will be held in October.
“I’m so grateful to work at a place that is willing to invest in people and relationships outside of the office,” said Melissa R. Gardner, Director and Law & Oarder team leader. “I’m convinced that learning how to work together in the boat helps us work together in the office.”
